As a veggie it is vital to make sure you get enough vitamins into your diet. One of the most difficult to get vitamins for veggies is B12.
You can take it as a supplement or in fortified foods such as soya yogurts or desserts.
Low levels of B12 in the body can cause nervous system damage and Anemia. The worst effected people are people on a Vegan Raw Diet as they don’t tend to eat fortified foods. Some symptoms of deficiency include, loss of energy, tingling, sore tong, poor memory, low levels has also been linked to heart problems. So we need to take this seriously.
There are plenty of vitamin supplements you can take sold in health food shops, also like I mentioned if you have soya on a regular basis, this is usually fortified with B12 and Vitamin D. The Soya yogurts are ideal.
Some plant based foods do contain B12 but we do not absorb as much as we need, so It is a good idea to add some extra to your diet with supplements or fortified foods.
