Personally I do not like Quorn and since becoming vegan I will not try it as Quorn contains eggs. But I am pleased they have brought out some new veggie products.
Earlier in the year they launched Fishless Fingers and Tuna sweetcorn crispbakes and now they are selling salmon style dill crispbakes and tuna style melts. There is plans to launch an ocean style pie and a fish fillet in batter next year.
They are targeting vegetarians and non vegetarians. Quorn are aiming at people who are concerned about the sustainability of fish stocks and the environment
I read about this in the Grocer (magazine for Caterers and the food industry) and they had some interesting data
From the Grocer
The meat-free category has grown 5.2% to £199.4m over the past three months [SymphonyIRI 12w/e 14 May 2011] with Quorn up 7.3% to £116.7m.
I hope the range does well and encourages a few more people to eat more veggie food.
Hi, Thank you for your comment. Try the Redwoods Fake Fish as this is Vegan, so no eggs.
That is an interesting point on the Egg situation. Also I do not like the fact that most of the eggs that are produced in the UK are from chickens living in horrible conditions.
I personally have a problem with egg even being in a vegetarian diet as it’s not animal produce it is an animal, albeit unfertilised. I did contact the Vegetarian Society in relation to the acceptable foods list and egg is very much debated among veggies according to them, many having already campaigned against egg being an acceptable food in the veggie lifestyle. They are working on what legally defines a vegetarian and egg is the current stumbling block.
