Vegan Baking Products
I often bake cakes and bread so here is a few of the items I use when baking.
Both of these brands the Orgran Natural Egg Replacer and Allergy Care Vegan Whole Egg Replacer are good products, they are perfect if the recipe call for eggs. I have used both successfully. Both are suitable for vegans and are for sale in health food shops. They keep for ages in the cupboard, I store mine with the flours.
For bread you cannot go wrong with the Doves Farm Malthouse Bread Flour, the flavour is really wholesome and it is just lovely in most bread recipes.
I am not great at decorating cakes, but when I make a fruit cake I like the marzipan and icing, like on the old fashioned Christmas cakes. The Cooperative do vegan ready roll icing and vegan golden marzipan. They are so easy to use, you just roll them out and stick to the cake with some sticky jam. Trim to make it look pretty. And they taste great too.
Most jams are suitable for vegans. For baking I like the cooperative Apricot Jam, most old fashioned recipes call for this when sticking something to the cake and this jam is perfect for the job.
Of course with most sweet recipes you will need sugar. I love the natural unrefined sugars from traidcraft.

They do muscovado which is a soft dark sugar, Demerara which is grainy, caster which is a fine sugar used for most sponge cakes, and raw cane sugar which is an all round sugar.
I like to use walnuts and whole nuts in my cakes, the cooperative do a good range of nuts, they are perfect for baking.
Vitalite is a really good ingredient for baking, I use this in my fruit cake recipe and it works very well.

Is your fruit cake recipe on the site? I had a look but couldn’t see it. If not, could you put it on? Thanks!!
Hi Jen
I am about to put the recipe on my site, I just need to ice it for a photograph, it will be on in a few days I promise. Thanks for your comment.
