More than 350 recipes, No meat, No Dairy. Big Vegan by Robin Asbell. I get so excited when I have a new cook book, I love good food so I like to find something new to try out. I do not to follow recipes perfectly but add or take away things I like and modify to my tastes.
This book is really quite good, My only annoyance is that when I ordered it on line, I thought it contained photographs of each recipe, I was wrong there are a few photographs but not many. I like the pictures so you know how it is supposed to look. Also I think images of food is far more inspiring than a dry recipe.
The first section is all about a balanced vegan diet and tells you all about vegan nutrition and the importance of certain minerals and vitamins. Then it tells you ingredients you should have in your store cupboard and then moves on to some lovely recipes, covering breakfasts, breads, snacks, salads, soups, mains and desserts and much more.
The recipes are very easy to follow, some are very basic like the Courgette Carrot Ribbon Salad up to the more complex dishes like the Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Creamy Aparagus Sage Sauce. Although nothing in this book looks difficult. My favourite section in the cook books is desserts and this one has a good selection. I am looking forward to trying out a number of the recipes in this section first like the Old Fashioned Apricot Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce. I can’t wait.
