Veggie sausage rolls with a Cumberland style vegetarian sausage wrapped in flaky pastry from Linda McCartney. I like these sausage rolls but I think they could be improved slightly. The sausage is fine and tastes good, but the pastry is a little dry, it does help if you brush it with a little soya milk before cooking. Also make sure when you cook them that you put the pastry fold on the bottom, otherwise they burst open and look a bit ugly when cooked. It does say this on the pack, but I missed that the first time, I just looked on the pack for how hot and how long to cook them for. They make a good party food, you can cut them into two or three per roll. They take approx 15 mins in the oven.
Each 342gram pack of 6 sausage rolls is suitable for vegans and vegetarians, Vegetarian Society Approved. Per sausage roll is 148kcal. Sold in the freezer section at supermarkets and health food shops.
I have also reviewed the Frys vegan sausage rolls which are quite good, they are not dry and have the pastry pinched down so you do not have an issue with them bursting open.
Hi David, They are for sale everywhere locally to me, supermarkets, health food shops and even some corner shops have them. Try Holland & Barrett,
take care Maggie
Can’t find these anywhere, shame. I love these. I cook them and then let them cool down and eat them cold like the pork versions I used to buy at Peters before I was vegetarian.
