Dried polenta granules from Merchant Gourmet. I really like polenta as it is so easy to make, but I think many people just don’t think about it or are unsure on how to use it.
My favourite way to have it is like mashed potato, you mix it into hot water and stir until you get a consistency you like. When boiling the water I add a little vegetable stock and some thyme herb with some black pepper, then I add the polenta and stir it through until it becomes like the texture of mashed potato and then add a little bit of vitalite (vegan margarine) to add a creamy texture. I like this mashed version with sausage and green vegetables, it tastes really nice this way. You can also fry polenta by cooking it for slightly longer and then shaping into cubes or chips, then lightly fry them and serve with Italian food or salads.
Polenta is really easy and flexible, it can go with most dishes. You need to add flavour to it, but it really is very simple to make. It cooks in just a minute.
Each 500gram pack is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. You need to use 4 times the water to the polenta granules to make the right consistency. Per 100grams is 357kcal. I bought mine in the supermarket.
