A gammon style roast from the Cheatin Meat Free range of Redwood’s. The first thing I noticed about this roast before I cooked it was the lovely smokey bacon aroma, I waited 45 minutes whilst it cooked in the oven (wrapped in foil) the smell was driving me mad, I could not wait to dig in. I think Redwood have a success on their hands with this roast, it slices quite easily and will feed 4 or 5 hungry people easily on a roast dinner. The flavour is a good bacon/ham flavour and I liked the texture of it too. Some mock meats are too close to the real thing, whereas this one is much more successful for someone who does not like the texture of meat. The roast has a slightly chewy texture but breaks down in your mouth quite easily.
This roast will work well for the festive season if you don’t fancy a turkey style roast or nut roast. Great for a Sunday Lunch and it is also lovely on a sandwich with a spot of English Mustard. I really enjoyed it and can highly recommend it. One of the better festive vegan roasts out there.
