I am thrilled that a new vegan cafe has opened up in Shrewsbury town centre. Shrewsbury does have a veggie cafe called the Good Life just down the road, however the Good Life is a bit old fashioned, nothing exciting just simple vegetarian food with a couple of vegan options, it is OK.
Optimum Joy is totally vegan apart from offering dairy milk for coffee and teas, you can have soya.
The food is vibrant, fairly imaginative and pretty tasty. There is a good selection of food for all tastes, they even do breakfast options until noon (I wish they did that all day as I was really drooling over the idea of a full British vegan breakfast). It is so good to see an exciting veggie place open up in Shrewsbury.
We tried the courgette and red pepper fritters with a fresh salsa, this was yummy, fresh and full of flavour. We also had a very nice slice of chocolate cake. We took some scones home with us for later which were wonderful. I am very impressed with this place and if you are in Shrewsbury I urge you to try it out. There is lots of choice and the service is excellent, the place itself is very relaxed and an enjoyable place to eat. Modern, clean and tasteful.
